The Lisbon Landmark Foundation is pleased to announce that it is hosting a Christmas Historic Home Tour November 22 and 23. The tour features five beautifully decorated historic homes owned by William and Carla Blocksom, Kim and Stevie Halverstadt, Holly Powell and Trevor Stewart, Tom and Cheri Scott, and Timothy and Laura Talbott. In addition to the homes, the First United Methodist Church, and one local business, Country Wicks are included on the tour.
5 Beautifully decorated historic homesWilliam & Carla Blocksom
379 E. Lincoln Way
The Blocksom home located at 379 East Lincoln Way was built in 1888 in the Victorian style with Georgian elements. The home features stained glass and leaded windows, ornate fret work above three original pocket doors, and two fireplaces. The theme is a Tree for all Seasons featuring Christmas trees in each room.
Kim & Stevie Halverstadt
132 S. Vine St.
The Halverstadt home is located at 132 South Vine Street. The original structure was built circa 1805 in the old German federal style. In 1895 the Queen Anne wrap-around was added. The home features leaded glass entrance doors, considered the jewels of the house; parquet entrance floors; and a beautiful staircase. The roofline is defined by porches, turret gables, and angular lines and two distinct roofing materials – slate and cedar. The home is decorated using traditional seasonal elements of pine and berries.
Holly Powell
422 W. Lincoln Way
Poinsettia Way is the theme for the Powell-Stewart home located at 422 West Lincoln Way. The home displays many architectural features with Victorian flair. The newly remodeled home features a fan window atop the front door, a baby grand piano in the parlor, and burgundy, pink, and white poinsettias throughout.
Tom & Cheri Scott
308 W. Lincoln Way
An Elegant Victorian Christmas is the theme for the Scott home located at 308 West Lincoln Way. The home features an eight foot tall armoire from New Orleans in the parlor, an upstairs ladies’ room, and a girls’ bedroom. There is a replica tin ceiling in the kitchen. The tiles surrounding the fireplaces are original to the home which was built circa 1900.
Timothy & Laura Talbott
307 W. Lincoln Way
Old World Splendor is the theme of the Victorian Craftsman home of Timothy and Laura Talbott. The home features two fireplaces, dentil molding, pocket doors, and a kissing porch at the back of the kitchen. Santas from around the world are on display throughout the house. A Mardi Gras themed tree is featured in the dining room. Of special interest are displays of art work by Salvador Dali on the second floor and Roger Clyde Singer in the hallway of the children’s stairs.
1st United Methodist Church
114 E. Washington St.
The First Methodist Church located at 114 East Washington Street will feature a Magi Gift Shop and a display of members’ crèches. Of special interest are the stained glass windows in the sanctuary which depict the life of Christ. The church also is sponsoring a soup luncheon.
Country Wicks
38005 Saltwell Rd
Country Wicks is located at 38005 Saltwell Road. Candle making started as a hobby for owner Chris Moore but soon turned into a business. Country Wicks features hand-poured soy-based candles, seasonal décor, quilts, rugs, handmade potpourri, primitive and country furniture, and gourmet teas and dips. Many of the items for sale have been made by local craftsmen.
